Customs Court extends judicial remand of tyres smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended judicial remand of an accused who was arrested from Lahore with a truck loaded with costly tyres.

Sources told Customs Today that the accused was booked when customs intelligence team intercepted a truck which was coming from Quetta near Thokar Niaz Baig. During searching of truck, the customs intelligence officials found a huge quantity of smuggled tyres which were tactfully hidden and packed. Sources said that tyres were packed almost five in one tyre. The tyres which were recovered by customs team included costly tyres of Pajero, Mazada trucks and other vehicles. Different brands of tyres were also recovered from the truck.

Customs team produced the accused before the court of Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan from where the judge handed over him to customs team for interrogation for four days physical remand and then he was sent to jail for judicial trial.
