LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved judicial remand of a suspect allegedly involved in a tyres smuggling case.
Sources told Customs Today that the Multan Customs arrested the suspect, Abdul Rehman, a resident of Multan, following the recovery of 200 allegedly smuggled tyres from his warehouse. The tyres of trucks, cars and buses worth Rs 3 million were seized during the raid, as these were allegedly brought into the country without payment of duty/taxes.
Customs authorities registered a case against the accused person under Section (I) S, 156, (1), (89) and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act, 1969 and produced him before the Customs Court.
Specials Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan had sent to jail on judicial remand for 14 days for further prosecution.
