LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent an alleged cloth smuggler to jail for further 14 days on judicial remand.
Sources told Customs Today that the Sialkot Customs Investigation and Prosecution team produced the suspect named Sarfraz Ahmad after the expiry of his physical remand and requested the court to send him to jail for judicial remand which was ended on Monday. After completion of his 14 days judicial remand, the customs court again send him to jail for further 14 days.
The officials informed the court that interrogation was completed and asked the court to send the accused on judicial remand.
Sarfraz Ahmad was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency following the charges of cloth smuggling. Later, the FIA handed over him to customs department on the orders of the Customs Court.
According to the allegations, the accused was allegedly involved in smuggling of cloth and other items from Afghanistan through KPK and Baluchistan.
