Customs Court extends physical remand of Taufeeq Butt in Gold Smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special federal court of Customs taxation and Anti Smuggling has issued 3 days physical remand of Toufeeq Butt in smuggling case for second time.

Earlier Toufeeq Butt was in custody of customs on three days physical remand. According to details Toufeeq Butt was on pre arrest bail by the Lahore High court in a Gold Smuggling case in which his alleged career Abdul basit is in judicial remand already.

Bail of Toufeeq Butt after customs struggle was canceled by the LHC and then he was booked by the customs authorities. He was brought to the court where Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan special judge to the court approved his physical remand and handed over him to Customs Custody for further investigation. Now Court has extended his remand for three days more for investigation on Customs application. Three other persons who were involved in this scam were also taken into custody.

It is pertinent to mention here, that his colleague Abdul basit was arrested by Customs authorities deployed at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore when he was attempting to smuggle 10 kilograms gold. The market value of gold is Rs 90 million.
