Customs Court extends pre-arrest bail of clearing agent of M/s Rawandi & Brothers

KARACHI: The Customs Court extended pre-arrest bail to suspect namely Behram Khan son of Haji Hayat Khan, partner M/s Rawandi & Brothers clearing agent، in a case of attempting to smuggle contraband goods via Afghan Transit Trade.

On 15 February 2020, counsel for the accused argued according to the prosecution that M/s TPL Tracker Private Ltd observed that a vehicle bearing registration no: TLA-263 laden with container had made an unusual stoppage and had deviated from specified route consequently the alert was forwarded to the office of the superintendent preventive service anti-smuggling organization NMB, Karachi to take enforcement measure under law based upon above information a team of officer/ officials was immediately sent to the designated area under the supervision of preventive officer to take over the control of the said vehicle which was loaded with 32 bags stuffed with saw dust on the container in addition to bonded transit cargo which is not permissible under Afghan Transit Trade rule issued vide SRO 450(I)2001 dated 18/06/2001.

According to the first information report, during the examination the container was found to contain 1185 package of solar panels, the packing/ wrapping of recovered solar panels do not bear the inscription (vis Karachi to Afghanistan) which is violation of rules 475(5) of the customs rules 2001, preventive officer lodged the FIR against M/s Jalat Khan and others.

After the hearing, court extended suspect’s pre-arrest bail and sought comments from customs officials for next date of hearing.
