Customs Court extends remand of alleged gold smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved extension in judicial remand of a suspect for another 14 days. The suspect is involved in a gold smuggling case.

As per details, Airport Security Force (ASF) had recovered two and half kilogram of gold from a passenger’s luggage at the Lahore airport. The passenger, identified as Rai Umar, was going to Sharjah through a private airline.

The clue of gold was found on search through scanning machine at the airport. The ASF conducted the initial interrogation and handed him over to the Custom Department for further investigation.

The customs team presented the accused before Customs Court, where Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan sent him to jail for judicial remand for fourteen days.

It is necessary to mention here that worth of the gold is more than 8 millions in international market.
