Customs Court extends remand of suspect involved in cloth smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended judicial remand for 14 days of an accused involved in cloth smuggling.

Earlier, Sarfraz Ahmad was sent to jail on judicial remand after completion of investigation by the investigation and prosecution team . The accused was presented before the customs court.

Sarfraz Ahmad was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency following the charges of cloth smuggling. Later, the FIA handed over him to customs department on the orders of the Customs Court. After completion of his judicial remand, the customs court again sends him to jail for further 14 days.

The officials informed the court that interrogation was completed and asked the court to send the accused on judicial remand.

According to the allegations, the accused was allegedly involved in smuggling of cloth and other items from Afghanistan through KPK and Baluchistan. Worth of the recovered items was in millions of rupees.
