Customs Court extends remand of suspect involved in Rs 8m tax evasion

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of a suspect allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 8 million.

According to the details, Fazal Hussain was arrested by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) Intelligence, Gujranwala after finding that he made huge bank transactions but never paid a single penny to the national kitty. The IR Intelligence found him involved in tax evasion of Rs 8 million.

Earlier, the federal court had rejected his bail plea as well. Customs Court after hearing both parties on Friday issued 14 days judicial remand of Fazal Hussain and handed over him to jail authorities for further prosecutions.

He will be produced before the court in March along with complete challan of the case to proceed further.
