Customs Court grants bail to suspect involved in illegal removal of pay-orders

KARACHI: The Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court granted interim pre-arrest bail to a suspect, Mohsin son of Abdul Ghaffar, who was booked in a case of illegal removal of pay-orders.

During the hearing, counsel for the accused appeared before the court and moved an application for his bail. He argued that his client was innocent and was falsely implicated in this case, therefore, the court may grants him bail till the final decision of this case.

After his arguments, the court granted him bail against surety bonds of Rs 500,000 and issued notices to the special public prosecutor and investigation officer.

According to the prosecution, accused was booked for involved in illegal removal of pay-orders from the securities section of the Collectorate and deposited the same in the accounts of unauthorized importers.

A case was registered under section 32 A of the customs act, 1969, punishable under clauses 14A of section 156 (1) of the Customs Act, 1969.
