Customs court grants three-day judicial remand of Chinese currencies-smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a judicial remand of an accused apprehended by the Pakistan Customs Preventive of the Allama Iqbal International Airport when it frustrated an attempt of smuggling of foreign currencies into China.

The customs investigation and prosecution team had presented him before the court and asked for his physical remand for further investigation. The court approved a three-day physical remand of the accused and sent him to jail.

On Wednesday, customs team had presented the accused before the court of Tahir Sabir and asked the court to send him to the jail on a judicial remand.

Accused Shahid Waqas was held by the customs preventive authorities at the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. The customs preventive team had intercepted the accused at the airport and recovered a big amount of currencies of China and USA. The customs authorities registered a case against him under the Pakistan Customs Act.

About 1,500 US dollars and 10,000 Chinese Yuan were recovered from accused Shahud Waqas. Shahid Waqas is a resident of Lahore. He was travelling by Shaheen Airlines from Lahore to Guangzhou China.
