Customs Court hears 11 cases on Friday

LAHORE: A Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 11 important cases on Friday and issued necessary directions as well.

On May 12, lawyers observed black day in the wake of May 12, 2007 tragedy in which 12 lawyers were burned alive in Tahir plaza Karachi. On Thursday, lawyers boycotted the Customs Court proceedings to show solidarity with Ismailis. However Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-smuggling heard 11 cases including tax evasion, customs, smuggling and narcotics.

Cases of smuggling were also a part of the day’s schedule in which court recorded the statements of the parties. In some cases Customs Court recorded witnesses and issued necessary directions.  Cases of Sambrial Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore will be heard on Monday.
