Customs court rejects post-arrest bail plea of alleged mobile phones smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has rejected a post-arrest bail plea of an accused who was arrested in mobiles smuggling case.

According to details, accused Agha Farukh was arrested by the customs investigation authorities from Faisalabad after the initial investigation from accused Tayab Manzoor who is on a judicial remand now. Accused Agha Farukh is a facilitator of Tayab Manzoor in the smuggling of mobile phones.

Earlier, the Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court had approved a 14-day judicial remand of the accused who was arrested by the customs authorities from Faisalabad.

According to sources of Customs Today, accused Tayab Manzoor was booked by the Customs Preventive at Faisalabad International Airport while he reached the airport from Bahrain. Accused Tayab was travelling by a flight of Gulf airways.

During a search of the luggage of the goods, Customs Preventive found the mobile phones that he was trying to smuggle into Faisalabad from Bahrain.

The customs has registered a case against accused Tayab and launched an investigation as well after confiscating the cell phones that he was trying to smuggle.

The total value of the cell-phones is more than Rs5million. The customs authorities have registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act-1969.
