LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent a suspect of Iranian plastic smuggling case to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
The Customs Intelligence arrested Shaukat Ali and also recovered a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian plastic raw material from his possession during a raid in Shahdara. The officials earlier had asked the accused to show documents regarding the legal import of the items but he could not do the same. Therefore, the recovered items worth Rs 1.9 million were seized.
Later, a case was registered against the accused under Section 2(s), 16, 156, (1) and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act, 1969 and produced before the Customs Court. The court granted him bail, which now has been cancelled by the Special Judge Chauhdhary Ameer Muhammad Khan.
