Customs Court seeks challan of Aqil Shah in smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has directed the investigation team to present investigation challan of an accused Aqal Shah who is involved in smuggling.

Earlier Aqil Shah was sent to jail on judicial remand when Customs Investigation and Prosecution team presented him before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan. The customs team requested the court that investigation had been completed so the court could send him to jail for judicial trial. The court has granted bail to Aqil Shah against surety bonds.

Earlier, it was reported by Customs Today that a team of Customs Intelligence seized non-customs paid items worth millions of rupees and arrested the suspect identified as Aqil Shah.

The Customs team stated before the court that they have recovered items including 1,154 kg cloths, 2,555 kg soap and 1,850 kg welding rods worth Rs 5.6 million. Customs Intelligence has also confiscated a truck TKY 965 loaded with these smuggled goods.
