Customs Court sends 8 suspects on physical remand

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has sent eight suspects on physical remand in a case of attempting to smuggle 26,500 liters diesel through wooden boat.

During the hearing, the investigation officer appeared before the customs court and produced the suspects, Muhammad Naeem son of Muhammad, Ameer Shad son of Umar Jan, Muhammad Ghani son of Usmani Gul, Zakir Hussain son of Mian Anwar Shah, Zahoor ul Haq son of Abdul Khaliq, Shah Khalid son of Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Yousaf son of Muhammad Kabeer and Muhammad Anwar son of Abdul Razzak.

Investigation Officer submitted that on credible information staff of the ASO intercepted the wooden boat when it came in Pakistani water and during search found smuggled non-duty paid 26500 litters diesel. The market value of seized diesel is Rs 1,775,500.

According to the FIR, after formalities, customs authorities had arrested the above named accused persons and seized the said diesel. Case was registered by complainant senior preventive officer Customs House Karachi in violation of section 2 (s) read with section 178 of custom act 1969 of section (1) ibid.

Custom Court sent accused persons on physical remand and also directed the investigation officer to produce the accused persons on October 31, 2016 with progress report.
