Customs Court sends accused on judicial remand in money laundering case

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sends accused Shaukat Ali to jail for 14 days in a money laundering case.

Sources told Customs Today that Shaukat Ali was arrested by Sialkot Customs officials at the Sialkot International Airport (SIAL) while he was attempting to smuggle $10,000 to a Gulf state. The customs team arrested him and then, according to rules, presented him in the court. They requested the court for his three-day physical remand. The Customs Court handed him over to the Customs Investigation officials for further interrogation.

On Monday, Customs Intelligence officials presented him in the court and stated that investigation had completed, so the court can send him to jail. On this, the court ordered to send Shaukat Ali to jail on judicial remand. The Customs Court has also asked the Customs Intelligence officials to submit a detailed challan against the accused on the next hearing.
