LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent an alleged currency smuggler named Irfan Altaf to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
Accused Irfan was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Sialkot International Airport Limited when he was trying to smuggle Rs 37 million from Sialkot and to Sharjah. The FIA officials had recovered 18 million Euros and 58,000 Dirham from his possession.
Earlier, the Customs Court had approved the bail plea of three suspects namely as Adnan Afzal, Imran Khan and Muhammad Irfan in the currency smuggling case. It may be mentioned here that court had directed the investigation team during last hearing to submit challan.
