LAHORE: The Special Court of customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved judicial remand of a suspect allegedly involved in a currency smuggling case.
An Indian was arrested by the customs authorities from Wagah Railways Station while he was making an attempt to smuggle Rs 225,000 to India from Lahore.
The accused who was identified as Farjan Rahat was booked following the recovery of Pakistani currency from his luggage during search. The customs authorities registered a case against him under Section 2 s, 16, 139, 156, 1, 8, 70 and 5 of the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969.
On Tuesday, accused was produced before the court where Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan sent him to jail on judicial remand for 14 days. Accused Farjan Rahat is a resident of Hyderabad, India.
