Customs Court sends two suspects to jail on judicial remand in cloth smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent two suspects to jail on extension of judicial remand for 14 days.
Sources told Customs Today that the two suspects, Rehmat Ali and Nasir Khan, were arrested by the customs intelligence and got their physical remand for investigations. The Customs intelligence had also recovered a huge quantity of foreign made smuggled cloth and related goods from their possession. The Customs Intelligence told the court that the accused were involved in smuggling of cloth from Afghanistan to Lahore and Faisalabad via different routs.

They had made a huge loss to national kitty in the wake of taxes and duties. They were involved in smuggling for long time. The amount of the recovered cloth is Rs 8.3 million, customs investigation has told the court.

The customs investigation team presented them before the customs court and asked for their physical remand to dig out network behind this smuggling mafia. After completion of physical remand again they were produced before the court where the court sent them jail for judicial remand. Now again th special court of customs taxation and anti smuggling has sent them to jail for further 14 days.
