Customs Court to hear 24 cases today

KARACHI: After four-day long strikes, Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi on Friday will take up 24 customs and tax related cases.

According to the cause list, four out of 24 cases were fixed for formal hearing against accused namely Tahir & others, Ishtiaque Ahmed & others, Mumtazuddin &others and Khurram Shahzad & others.

Three out of overall 24 cases were fixed for prosecution evidences against accused persons including Muhammad Illyas &others, Ikram Ullah Afridi & others and Rahmat Ali & others.

Remaining 14 cases were fixed for confirmation of bails of suspects named Noman & others, Sahira Jahangir &others, Noman Abdul Rauf & others, Muhammad Shakeel & others, Jamaluddin & others, Abdul Ghaffar & others, Sharjeel Jamal & others, Shahzad & others, Ibad ur Rehman & others, Muhammad Zahid & others and Rahim Sultan Ali Meerani & others.

It needs to be mentioned here that on Monday, Pakistan Bar Council, Sindh Bar Council, Sindh High Court Bar Association, Karachi Bar Association and Malir Bar Association had announced full day strikes and boycott against the killing of Balochistan Bar Association’s president and over 70 people at Quetta’s Civil Hospital. Therefore, Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi had adjourned the hearing of all cases without any proceedings.
