Customs court to hear worth Rs30m clothes’ smuggling case to today

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling is going to hear a case of smuggling of cloths valued Rs30million today. Three accused have filed their post arrest bail plea before the court that is scheduled for today for further action.

Three accused named Sajjad Qureshi, Abdul Sattar and Hammad Ahmad were arrested by the customs authorities when they were making attempt to smuggle huge quantity of Indian made Saris. Investigation team of customs preventive produced them before the court of Aqal Hussain Chohan and asked for a three-day physical remand. On the request of the investigation team, the customs court handed over them to the investigation team for further investigation.

During the hearing of the case, accused Sajjad Qureshi asked for pardon from the court and said this is their first mistake. The honorable court stated that you people are lucky that you are arrested in your first attempt which means God has saved you from sins.

The customs court, after hearing both parties, approved a two-day physical remand of the three accused and handed over them to the customs investigation team for further prosecution. And they were sent to jail for further judicial trial. Accused filed their application of post arrest bail that was scheduled for 2nd of May.

The customs preventive has registered a case against the accused under Pakistan Customs Act of-1969.
