Customs earns Rs 2.2m through auction

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate generated Rs 2.2 million through auction of confiscated goods.

The customs presented different items, including LCD TVs, artificial jewelry, gents shirts, used laptops, projectors, energy saver bulbs, tablets and other items for auction, while some laptops and tablets were not auctioned due to low bidding.

The process of auction was held under the supervision of Investigation and Prosecution Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak and Superintendent Zargam Dil. Meanwhile, Islamabad Customs Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen appreciated the collection of revenue through auction.

Talking to Customs Today Tahir Iqbal Khattak said that most of items were brought into Pakistan from Europe and Britain by the Pakistanis who collected these items in abroad, which were not in use of people there.

Khattak said that the Pakistanis left these items at airport due to imposition of duty/taxes. The auction was held through open bidding where everyone was given equal opportunity, the assistant collector added.
