KARACHI: Directorate General Customs Enforcement Regional Office in pursuance of a specific information has underneath an illegal removal of 2,150,365 M/tons of imported GP steel coils imported by M/s Gogan Steel Traders, bearing NTN 2053693.
According to the details, the illegal removal of 2,150,365 M/tons of imported GP steel coils were underneath from the Public Bonded Warehouse of M/s Meezan Enterprises Karachi bearing PWL-02/2006-Public.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that nineteen consignments of the aforesaid commodity weighing 3,171,933 tons were cleared from Model Customs Collectorate Port Muhammad Bin Qasim during the period from September, 2014 to July, 2015.
The source informed that, from the cleared nineteen consignments out of which a quantity of only 300 M/tons was ex-bonded in December, 2015 which mean that a balance of 2,871,933 m/tons should have been available in the bonded Warehouse.
During physical checking along with retrieval of relevant gate passes and bank lien record revealed that 2,150,365 M/tons of GP steel coils valued at Rs 112.625 million had been removed without payment of duty taxes amounting Rs 66.448 million.
The investigation is in progress and the role of the other possible associates in crime including customs staff will be determined during the investigation.
