Customs Export arrests key accused involved in smuggling of turtle organs

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Exports has arrested a key accused involved in smuggling of turtle organs, including bones, meat and skull to other countries.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs officials, on secret information, arrested a key accused who was involved in exporting the turtle organs illegally to other countries.

The sources have denied disclosing the identity of the arrested accused by saying that the investigation is underway and the Customs authorities will prevail the secrecy during the entire investigation in order to arrest the entire chain which is involved in smuggling of turtle organs.

It is pertinent to mention here that the authorities concerned of MCC-Export have already arrested two accused in the said case and also sent them into jail after fulfilling the legal procedure.

It may be mentioned here that the Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) Muhammad Nazim Saleem has recently sent a letter to authorities concerned of MCC-Export in which he asked them to take punitive measures in order to curb the smuggling of turtle organs including meat, skull and bones illegally to other countries.

Afterwards, the Chief Collector-Enforcement (South) held a meeting of  authorities concerned of MCC-Exports in which he stressed upon uprooting the menace of smuggling the turtle organs and asked them to evolve an effective strategy in this regard.
