Customs Export directs M/s Surriya Garments to deposit evaded tax, duty

KARACHI: Customs Export has issued a show cause notice to the management of M/s Surriya Garments and Export Company located in Mirpur Mathelo to deposit evaded tax and duty at the earliest.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Surriya Garments imported six consignments of raw material between February and March 2016. During the scrutiny of import data, it was revealed that the company availed undue benefits and concessions in import of  raw material. The company illegally used SRO 533 and PCT heading and caused a loss of Rs 2 million to national kitty through tax evasion.

Now after finding the tax evasion Customs Export authorities directed the management of M/s Surriya Garments to clearing the evaded tax amount of Rs2 million along with Rs100,000 penalty within seven days failing which stern action will be taken against the company.
