Customs Export recovers evaded amount of Rs13.54m from defaulter companies

KARACHI: The Customs Export on Thursday recovered an evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs 13.54 million from defaulter companies which were issued with notices to pay the outstanding dues.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Samama Black Stone & Export availed undue benefits and concessions after exporting different consignments of marble sheets, (24×48) and other polish items by misusing the SRO 566 through Waseem Imran on January 29, 2017.

Sources further said that the company was allegedly involved in the tax evasion of Rs 5.48 million. After detecting the tax evasion, the Customs Export served on it a final notice on 16th May, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount in 14 days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Samama Black Stone & Export deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on 31st May in the favor of Custom export.

Another defaulter company named M/s Royal Magnetic and engineering also cleared Rs 3.85 million of taxes and duties. Sources told the correspondent that M/s Royal Magnetic and engineering also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 17th of May, 2018. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Royal Magnetic and Engineering deposited the evaded amount of taxes into the official account.

On another hand, Tabassum Raza Boutique availed undue benefits and concessions after importing different consignments of un stitch dresses and lessees, by misusing the SRO 559 through Appraiser Shahid Kazmi on December 21, 2017,

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 11th May, 2018. After receiving the notice, the management of the M/s Tabassum Raza Boutique deposited the 4.21 million of taxes into the official account.
