Customs Export serves notices on four companies involved in tax evasion

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has served three show cause notices and one final notice on tax defaulters and tax evaders for recovery of dues.

Sources told Customs Today that Custom Exports issued notices to four companies, including M/s YK Knitwear, M/s Atif Qayyum Fabrics and M/s Waris G Enterprises’ and others.

M/s YK Knitwear used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to get a consignment of net fabrics suits and different kind of knitwear cleared on July 19 and caused the national kitty a loss of Rs 2.29 million.

During the scrutiny of the import data, the Customs Exports detected the misuse of the PCT heading for which it was issued with a show-cause notice no: 237/2017 for paying the evaded amounts of tax and duty.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion committed by M/s Atif Qayyum Fabrics who got cleared a consignment of cotton printed bed sheets and different kinds of carpets and other items.

The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, served a show cause notice on the company and asked it to deposit the evaded tax amount within fortnight.

Another company M/s Waris G Enterprises cleared a consignment of  medical accessories include (different kinds of wheel chairs and surgery items). The custom authorities issued a final notice and mentioned to submit all the documents for consignment soon and submit a balance amount.

The Customs Exports unearthed another tax evasion committed by M/s Usman Baya Leathers who got cleared a consignment of leather shoes and gloves used wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) heading to get a consignment.

Customs Exports detected the misuse of PCT heading for which it was issued with a show-cause notice no: 238/2017 for paying the evaded amounts of tax and duty.
