KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Exports has urged the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and commercial banks to upload the verified E-forms on their websites as customs is facing difficulties in checking the veracity of E-forms submitted by exporters.
According to details, former Exports Collector Wasif Memon during his tenure sent a letter to the State Bank of Pakistan and other commercial banks in which he urged them to upload the status of E-forms after issuing the same to any exporter, so that the customs could check the veracity of the issued E-forms through the computerised system.
However, the said recommendation has not been implemented despite a lapse of several months, which on one hand creating delay in the process of verifying the authenticity of the issued E-form, while on the other hand, also increased the risk of using fake E-forms into the process of exporting the consignments.
It is pertinent to mention here that a Rs 300 billion gold scam has already been unearthed in the previous year, in which unscrupulous elements exported a huge quantity of gold and other precious metals on fake E-forms.
