Customs Exports collects Rs 36.67m during first 28 days of July

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has collected Rs 36.67 million tax during first 28 days of July 2017.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Exports issued total ten show cause notices out of which seven final notices were served on defaulter companies. The Customs Exports issued show cause notices to two factories in order to collect the evaded tax amount. The customs authorities issued notices to M/s Ali Enterprises Karachi and M/s Kamran Garments and Exports Karachi.

M/s Ali Enterprises used the wrong Pakistan Custom Tariff heading to get its medical accessories consignment cleared in the end of June and caused the national exchequer a loss of Rs 6.11million.

Checking the data in the end of June, the Customs Exports found the company using the wrong PCT heading. After detecting the tax evasion, the customs authorities issued a show-cause notice no: 182/2017 to recover the evaded tax amount.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports uncovered another tax evasion committed by M/s Kamran garments and export in a consignment of silk suits and fabrics in the last month. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, served show-cause notices on the companies and asked them for submitting the evaded tax amount within fortnight.

Ali garments and Exports used the wrong Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) heading to get its steel items consignment cleared and caused the national exchequer a loss of Rs6.6million.
