Customs Exports receives Rs16.8m take during 25 days of August

KARACHI: The Customs Exports has successfully collected Rs16.8million during 25 days of August for Fiscal Year 2017-18. If we talk about the last 20 days of August, the Customs Exports has generated Rs14.6million during the first 20 days of August.

Sources said the Customs Exports issued total 13 show cause notices out of which 10 final notices were served on defaulter companies in 25 days of August. Yesterday, the Customs Exports issued show cause notices to two factories in order to collect the evaded tax amount. The customs authorities issued notices to M/s Naina Marble and Export Karachi and Fayyaz Enterprises MirpurKhas, Sindh.

M/s Naina Marble and Export Karachi used the wrong Pakistan Custom Tariff heading to get its marble tiles consignment cleared in the 1st of August 2017 and caused the national exchequer a loss of Rs3.6 million.

Checking the data in the current month, the Customs Exports found the company using the wrong PCT heading. After detecting the tax evasion, the customs authorities issued a show-cause notice No: 181/2017 to recover the evaded tax amount.

Meanwhile, the Customs Exports uncovered another tax evasion committed by Fayyaz Enterprises MirpurKhas Sind in an imported plastic consignment in the start of August. The customs authorities, after a careful investigation, served show-cause notices on the companies and asked them for submitting the evaded tax amount within fortnight.

Fayyaz Enterprises Mirpur Khas Sind used the wrong Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) heading to get its plastic items consignment cleared and caused the national exchequer a loss of Rs2.7million.
