ISLAMABAD: The Customs officials at International Mail Office have foiled a bid to smuggle 660-gram heroin to China.
According to a Customs spokesperson, the heroin was tactfully concealed in power banks scheduled to be dispatched to China. A smuggler, identified as Zahid Gull and hails from Peshawar, booked the parcel in Peshawar for China, he added.
The Deputy Collector at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport, Nagma-e-Tehniyat, received a tipoff and directed officials to conduct a thorough search of parcels at International Mail Officer, which resulted into recovery of 660g heroin.
A case was registered against the smuggler while further investigation was on, he said.
