Customs foils bid to smuggle 8.70kg narcotics at Karachi airport

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Preventive staff deputed at the Karachi airport has foiled an attempt to smuggle 8.70 kilograms of narcotics abroad and arrested six persons of the same family, it is learnt here.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs authorities under the leadership of Deputy Collector Syed Ali Raza Sipra intercepted six persons of the same family and recovered a huge quantity of drugs from them.

The family that included one male and five female members were going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah by PIA flight, sources said.

In this regard, the Pakistan Customs has organized a press conference at the Air Freight Unit on Saturday, June 25, 2016.

The press conference would be addressed by Chief Collector of Enforcement South, Pakistan Customs, Muhammad Zahid Khokhar and Collector Preventive Collector Syed Tariq Huda.

It is necessary to mention here that customs authorities already enhanced their checking process to thwarted any attempt of smuggling.
