KARACHI: The Customs officials have foiled a money laundering bid at Jinnah International Airport and arrested two people.
According to a Customs spokesperson, a passenger, Muhammad Yaseen, was trying to smuggle $19,000 and 76,500 Saudi Riyal to Dubai, when he was arrested by Customs Superintendent Muhammad Afzal.
Later the superintendent freed the accused after allegedly taking $40,000 as bribe. However, the Customs officials arrested both the passenger and superintendent and started further investigation, the spokesman added.
