Customs generates Rs 55m through auction of non-duty paid goods, vehicles

ISLAMABAD: The Customs collectorate generated a record revenue of Rs 55 million through auction of non-duty paid vehicles and items.

According to details, a large number of people participated in the auction, many of whom had come from Lahore and Peshwar. After generating Rs 55 million, Collector Dr Arsalan Subuctageen congratulated Deputy Collector Headquarters Shahid Jan and Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak for conducting such a successful auction.

Talking to Customs Today after the auction, Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak said that the department has adopted a different strategy for this audit to enhance revenue. The auction was held from 10am to 3pm without any break. During the auction, 72 vehicles were offered for auction and 63 were sold.

The other items which attracted reasonable prices includes foreign origin cloth, juices, cosmatics and other goods. A transparent procedure was adopted for auction. It is necessary to mention here that management of auction not received a single complaint regarding auction.
