Islamabad Customs generates Rs6.195m through auction of NDP goods, vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Customs Collectorate on Wednesday sold 19 lots of confiscated smuggled goods and vehicles through public auction and generated handsome amount of Rs6.195 million.

Additional Collector Ashfaque Khan, while talking with Customs Today, said that through a public auction which was held at the  premises of State Ware House (SWH), more than 20 non-duty-paid (NDP) vehicles comprising jeeps, Premio, Fielders, Vitz were presented.

H said that multiple seized smuggled goods comprising foreign-origin fabrics, tea, tyres, make-up kits and auto-parts were also presented for auction. He said that banners were displayed at outside of MCC building, dry port premises as well as Air Freight Unit (AFU) along with the list of goods which were put for auction.

Ashfaque Khan said that the staff of MCC with assistance of Alvi Auctions held auction in transparent manner  under the Auction Rules and Act of 1969. He added that a good influx of participants attended the auction most of auctioneers belonged to Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The additional collector said that total 19 lots were sold in handsome amount. He added that total 17 lots of seized smuggled goods were sold for Rs.4.370 million while two NDP vehicles were sold for Rs1.825 million. The total revenue fetched through the auction was estimated at Rs.6.195 million, he added.
