He said the spirit behind the holding of this championship that participation list in this championship has crossed the hundred mark and the events at stake are events for veteran golfers who fall in the age category 70 years and above.

Then there will be an event for senior golfing amateurs and age wise they have to fall in the age category ranging between 55 years to below 70 years, he added. Ladies will also be a part of the event and they will compete for attractive prizes and honors.

A significant feature of the golf competition is that juniors will also get a chance to display their abilities and demonstrate the skills they have acquired through formal coaching and training at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course.

And while the events for veterans, seniors, ladies and juniors will be held on Saturday, the final day Sunday is reserved for amateur golfers some of whom have many accomplishments to their credit.

For all the competitors seeking honors in the competition this is going to be a testing time and serious business as they strive to get into the spotlight by avoiding missed putts and achieve accuracy in shot making through application of duly practiced golf swings.

The interesting part is that participating golfers in the category of seniors and veterans  group are capable of coming up with amazing golf scores and it will not be easy even for the established ones to edge past their fellow competitors.

Players like Imran Ahmed, Javed A.Khan, Naeem Akhter, Shafique Bhatti, Omar Farooq, Dr Khurram Saadat, Tariq Malik and Air Vive Marshal Zakaullah have a class of their own and they will rise to the grand occasion provided by Pakistan Customs to show their mettle.

Agha Ali Imam, Convenor of Lahore Gymkhana was extremely satisfied about the playing conditions of the fairways and greens which have undergone considerable improvement particularly after acquisition of new maintenance machinery.

During this championship, the lie of the ball is going to be virtually perfect, thereby facilitating accurate and crisp approach shots to the greens. As for the greens, they are going to play true and fast.

In the amateur contest, single handicappers who are likely to enjoy a dominating presence in this competition are Mohsen Zafar, Ahmed Zafar Hayat, Sameer Iftikhar, Zunair Aleem Khan, Salman Jehangir, Mir Maaz and Taimur Shabbir.

As for the upcoming and highly talented double digit handicappers, this is a most appropriate occasion to show their ability.

It is worth mentioning that game of golf is gaining popularity day by day and many players represented Pakistani in major world amateur golf events recently.
