Customs Gujranwala impounds non-duty paid vehicles, goods worth Rs 6.5m till August 13

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala has impounded four non customs paid duty vehicles worth Rs 6 millions and other items worth Rs 0.5 millions from July 15, 2016 to August 13, 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala Zainab Mehmood is working hard to curb smuggling in the region. On the other hand, the Customs Department is also using all available resources to curb smuggling in the region.

Sources said that Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar and Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi are very alert to curb smuggling from the region.

However the teams were constituted by the deputy director to eradicate smuggling and teams showed outstanding performance . During anti smuggling campaign these teams checked many vehicles and impounded four non customs paid duty vehicles worth Rs.6 millions and seized Indian origin red chillies, cumin, cloth and Iranian black tea worth Rs.0.5 millions during under Kashmir Transit Trade and Iran Transit Trade from July 15,2916 to August 13,2016.

The Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Saud Imran hailed the performance of teams and he congratulated Deputy Director, Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent as well as Investigation officers/Inspectors Syed Majid Raza, Saad Iqbal and Mian Muhammad Yousaf and Constables Mubashar, Asad Raza, Boota and others.

The Director Customs Intelligence has announced to distribute cash prize and appreciation certificates among the staff who has performed their duty to curb smuggling. Whereas Deputy Director Ms. Zainab Mehmood instructed all staff to must make success said campaign to curb smuggling from the Region because the smugglers are real enemy of country and they are giving loss to national exchequer and sale of local items in markets is on decline because smuggling items sale on cheap rates.
