Customs I & I Multan seizes smuggling items loaded on two buses coming from Quetta

MULTAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan recovered miscellaneous goods of Rs3.5million from two passenger buses coming from Quetta.

The Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan received a tip-off that a huge quantity of smuggling items will be transported through his area. On the Directives of Director Chuadhry Muhammad Akram, Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan formed a special team which comprised of Inspector Umer, Inspector Habib Bhatti, Inspector Iqbal Shah, Inspector Haq Nawaz and others to frustrate smuggling attempts.

The Customs Field Intelligence Unit of Sadiqabad enhanced the monitoring at the entrance of Sadiqabad Toll Plaza to thwart any smuggling attempt. The Field Intelligence Unit of Customs started random inspection and intercepted two buses loaded with miscellaneous articles. The inspection resulted in the recovery of large quantity of smuggling goods.

The recovered items include auto parts, imported cloths, rims, nut bolts, branded and used tyres and other goods. The smuggling items loaded on two buses bore registration No: BSA-197 and BSA-222. During the examination, the customs asked the drivers of buses about the said goods but they could not justify the legality of loaded items.

At last, smuggling goods were taken into possession and deposited in the Customs Intelligence Multan Office. Further Investigation is underway.
