Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs120m from Quetta to Lahore

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of smuggled tyres from Quetta to Lahore. Estimated value of seized goods is approximately R120 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saima Aftab received credible information about smuggling of tyres. She directed Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Hassan Farid to take all necessary measures to thwart attempt of smuggling.

Sources said that Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted a four trailers bearing numbers (JV- 6884, TLD- 812, TLV- 784, TLD-804) and seized all the goods. 10 accused were arrested on spot.

loaded with foreign origin smuggled tyres, near Jaranwala which were plied by Haji Sadiq from Quetta to Lahore via M-3.

The operation was successfully completed in wee hours with the active assistance of Collectorate of Enforcement Lahore. Further investigations are still under process.
