ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Mark X during crackdown having worth Rs2.7 million on Monday.
According to details, Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has received authentic information regarding the existence of non-duty paid Toyota Mark X on Margalla Road. The directorate passes the information to the field staff. Following information the staff has intercepted the car worth of Rs2.7 million involving Rs2.1 million of duty/tax bearing registration no. BFF-549 and chassis no. GRX-121-3001380.
Meanwhile the customs staff asked the owner of the vehicle who was later identified as Aslam son of Hassan to produce documents regarding the lawful possession of the vehicle but he remained failed to show any relevant documents.
Therefore the Customs I&I staff arrest the owner of the vehicle on the spot and impounded the Toyota Mark X car under the import Export Control Act 1950, punishable under section 156(I) 89 (i) of the Customs Act 1969 and sent the case to adjudication department for further proceedings.
Customs I&I sources express satisfaction over the efficiency of field staff and added that the Directorate Customs I&I is fully alert to curb each smuggled attempt.
