Customs I&I impounds non-customs paid luxury vehicles worth Rs 20m

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation team on Monday impounded four non-customs paid luxury vehicles worth Rs 20 million from various localities in Lahore, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that on the directions of the Director Zeba Hai Azhar, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has intensified operations against illegally imported vehicles.

The sources said that following the directions the customs car cell intercepted four luxury non-customs paid which includes Land Cruiser, one Parado, one Mercedes, and one Premio car from various localities.

The sources said that the total value of the four vehicles have been determined at Rs 20 million while all chassis of these vehicles was  found as tampered and welded.

The customs officials said that the director has appreciated the customs car cell officials urging them to do more and adopt zero tolerance against the owners of smuggled cars being used in the city.

The sources said that the director strictly ordered the car cell customs officials to work without any pressure and do take legal action against anyone involved in the illegal business of smuggling of vehicles and other non-customs paid items.

The sources added that since the Director Zeba Hai Azhar has assumed charge as director Customs Intelligence and Investigation a number of valuable seizures of non-customs paid items were under taken that proved helpful in creating deterrence against the illegal activities of smuggling.

It was added that the director has instructed the customs authorities to further jack-up general hold-ups and come hard on the information never sparing anyone involved in the illegal activities of smuggling of cars and other item.
