Customs seizes goods, vehicles worth Rs 40m during April-June 2016: Additional Collector Faiz Ali

SIALKOT: Additional Collector Sialkot Faiz Ali has said that the anti-smuggling campaign, launched by the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), is in full swing in Gujranwala division.

Talking to Customs Today, Faiz Ali said that all zones are working to curb smuggling whereas the ASO team are performing their duties on roads and results are fruitful.

He said that the teams impounded 15 non-duty paid vehicles, 13.5 kilogram opium, 276 mobile phones, dry dates, toys, bicycles, tyres and other items during three months from April to June worth Rs 40 millions. He said that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has strictly instructed to all customs collectors to adopt comprehensive strategies to curb smuggling in the country.

He said the government is trying to get rid of this menace. He said that the performance of the ASO teams, which are patrolling on Wazirabad, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad Mandi Bahauddin Aimanabad, Gujrat and Airport roads, is getting better day by day.

He said that he directed the ASO teams to check all vehicles thoroughly and not to spare anyone who found involved in smuggling. He said that the co-operation of police, Rangers and other agencies is very helpful to curb smuggling from the country. He said that the FBR is taking keen interest to eliminate the smuggling. He said the public should also cooperate with ASO to curb smuggling because it is also include in the duty of public as good citizen of Pakistan.

He said that Collector Ahmed Reza Khan is also taking keen interest to curb smuggling rather he is fully cooperating and facilitating ASO of three zones for this purpose. He said that the ASO staff is performing duty in hot weather and holy month of Ramadan with fasts. He said that the ASO is achieving better results day by day for the betterment of country and strengthen the economy.
