Customs impounds Toyota Crown car worth Rs 1m

ISLAMABAD: Car cell ofthe Customs Collectorate Islamabad has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Crown car worth Rs 1 million.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling car cell received information that a non-duty paid vehicle is roaming in the capital (Islamabad) with fake documentation.

In pursuance of the information, the car cell reached raided Zero Point where car was parked, model 1994 with registration number A-8366. The Customs officials asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any relevant documents.

After initial investigation the Squad found that Toyota crown car’s documents were faked and the abducted car is cut and weld and its body has been changed, in the mean time under quick action by Superintend Chaudhry Safdar and Inspector Khalid Samad the vehicle is impounded under Customs Act 1969 Section 2-S and 16, the documents of vehicle have been sending for further examination to I&P department.

Shahid Jan said that FBR has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to to curb the transfer of smuggled goods along with those who are using the smuggled and non-duty paid vehicles.
