MULTAN: The Multan Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized two buses carrying smuggled goods in a joint operation.
The buses were impounded in a joint action with Sakhi Sarwar Police and Dera Ghazi Khan Police.
The buses were carrying various items. The bus (LIT-8977) was loaded with silk cloth of 26,000 yards, 10 Korean blankets, 276 pullovers and Indian-origin naswaar of 379 kg.
The other bus (JB-0628) was loaded with 60 cartons of cigarettes, 141 LCD TVs, 60 cartons of Indian-origin chewing tobacco, 24 irons, 20 electric heaters, 486 kg of black tea and 35 kg of green tea.
The total worth of the seized goods is Rs 8.5 million and customs duty is Rs 4 million.
Two accused were also arrested in the action against the smuggled goods. The joint operation is a result of better coordination among law enforcement agencies.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Additional Director Nisar Ahmad had formed a special team for the joint operation.
The Border Military Police officials also assisted Dera Ghazi Khan Police and Customs Intelligence through information sharing.
A first information report has been lodged and further investigation is underway.
