LAHORE: In a recent representation sent through proper channels to the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), over 200 dedicated Customs Inspectors have urged for their long-awaited promotion to the rank of Superintendent Customs. These inspectors, who have served tirelessly for decades under the FBR’s administrative control, are seeking recognition for their unblemished service records and commitment to maximizing government revenue.

The inspectors highlight their unwavering dedication to their duties, emphasizing their commitment to conducting their roles with integrity and efficiency, garnering praise from both their superiors and the Federal Board of Revenue itself. However, despite their consistent exemplary performance, these inspectors have not been considered for promotion to the next cadre of Superintendent Customs.

Many of these inspectors are on the brink of attaining the superannuation age of 60 years, which adds urgency to their request for promotion. They possess updated annual Performance Evaluation Reports (PERs) and have duly submitted Asset Declarations, making them eligible for promotion as Superintendent Customs.

Adding to their plea for justice, the inspectors point out recent promotions within the IRS and the Customs departments, where some of their colleagues have been elevated to higher positions. However, the majority of these inspectors have not seen promotions to the rank of Superintendent Customs since March 30, 2021, leaving them feeling discriminated against without any fault of their own.

It is worth noting that numerous vacancies for the position of Superintendent Customs currently exist, and promoting these senior-most inspectors would be an ideal solution to fill these positions efficiently.

In light of these circumstances, these dedicated inspectors humbly request the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue to consider their cases for promotion as Superintendent Customs. They believe that this action would not only be fair and just but would also serve as a motivating factor for them to continue performing their duties with even greater diligence and efficiency.

The inspectors express their gratitude in advance for any positive response from the FBR Chairman, emphasizing that this act of recognition and kindness would be a significant morale boost for them and a testament to the principles of fairness and justice within the organization.

The Customs Inspectors eagerly await a favorable resolution to their long-standing request for promotion, hoping that their years of dedicated service will finally be acknowledged and rewarded.
