Customs Intelligence confiscates used air compressor, vehicle

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) foiled an attempt of smuggling and seized used air compressor worth Rs10,00,000 involving duty tax Rs4,20,000 besides confiscated Hundai Shehzore worth Rs4,00,000 near at Gatt Wala Toll Plaza.

According to the details, the Customs Intelligence received a tip off about some smuggling attempts. The collector customs constituted a team under the supervision of Deputy Director Syed Ittrat Hussain including Intelligence Officer Irshad Ali, Muhammad Siddique, and Sepoy Israr Ahmed, Liaqat Ali, Muzamil Hussain.

The intelligence staff intercepted a Hundai Shehzore vehicle with registration no: LOT-5865 and recovered used air compressors model GA-50VSD. The compressors were being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad.

The customs team asked the driver to show the legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of foreign origin compressors but he failed to provide any required document.

After his failure, the intelligence team registered a case of smuggling against the accused and confiscated the Compressor and carrier vehicle.

The team transferred the loaded vehicle to Customs Warehouse and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
