Customs Intelligence forms team to investigate theft of seized items

KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has decided to form a committee to investigate the theft of valuable items which were seized during various operations.

Sources said that various valuable items, including laptops, mobile phones and tablets worth millions of rupees, were stolen from the office of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation.

More than 55 laptops, mobile phones and tablets worth millions of rupees were seized by the anti-smuggling cell of the Customs Intelligence and were kept in the sealed room.

The upcoming committee will first investigate the presence of the valuable items in a room, as the stolen goods had to be kept in the warehouse of the Customs Intelligence, source added.
