Customs Intelligence holds smuggled cell phones, laptops worth Rs 5m

KARACHI: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation-Enforcement seized smuggled cell phones, tablets, laptops worth Rs 5 million

As per details, Customs Intelligence-Enforcement Director Muhammad Yaqoob Mako following credible information regarding smuggling directed the Additional Director Touseef Amman to form a team.

The additional director made a team comprising Superintendent Ilyas Ahmed, Senior Intelligence Officer Tariq Rafiq, Intelligence Officer Liaqat Ali and Anwar Farooqui to fail the smuggling attempt at Karachi airport.

The team intercepted a passenger at airport and searched his luggage, which lead to the recovery of cell phones, tablets and laptops of assorted brands. The officials asked the passenger to show the documents about the legal import of the recovered items, but he could not do the same.

Therefore, the officials seized the items and arrested the accused person. The accused person was later appeared before the court, which sent him behind the bars.
