Customs Intelligence impounds Mitsubishi Pajero worth Rs 14m

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation special car cell has impounded a non-duty paid Mitsubishi Pajero Jeep worth Rs 14 million.

Official told Customs Today that in pursuance of information, the staff of special car cell intercepted a non-duty paid smuggled Mitsubishi Pajero Jeep Model 1997 bearing Registration No. JSA 260- Jaffarabad having a chassis No.V-4404178 (2800 cc) on Main GT Road near DHA Phase –II, Rawalpindi.

On demand driver or possessor of the vehicle, Sheraz Khan failed to produce any import or auction documents expect registration book. As per registration data of Motor Registration Authority, Jaffarabad, no record of registration of the Pajero Jeep was found in the data.

No import record exists in the import data available with Directorate General of Customs Intelligence. The car cell has impounded the Mitsubishi Jeep under the Section 17 of the Customs Act,1969 with of the approval of the competent authority for further verification of its import status and forensic test.
