Customs team detains non-duty paid Toyota Corolla from Attock

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue team has detained a non duty paid smuggled vehicle Toyota Corolla G worth Rs. 2 million.

According to sources in pursuance of an information the anti smuggling staff impounded a non duty paid vehicle Toyota Corolla G Model 2002 bearing registration No BT–980 Islamabad Chassis No. NZE121 0157654, 1496 CC from Police Chowki Basal Jand district Attock.

The anti smuggling team of Customs Intelligence team asked the owner of the vehicle Sardar Mohammad to produce legal documents regarding import and possession of the above said vehicle, but he failed to show any releant legal documents.

Sources said that Pakistan Revenue Automation Pvt Ltd (PRAL) and auction related data available with the directorate General showed that no import and auction record found for the detained Toyota Corolla car.  So, the vehicle has been detained under section 17 of the Customs Act, 1969 for further verification of its import and auction status and payment of duty and taxes etc.

Sources said that Customs Intelligence and Investigations teams already expedited their efforts against non duty paid vehicles plying on roads.
